Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago just released a data brief from the Illinois Violent Death Reporting System (IVDRS), "Circumstances Surrounding Adolescent and Young Adult Suicide Among Those Not Receiving Mental Health Treatment at Time of Death." The study reveals that the majority of young people in Illinois who committed suicide were not receiving mental health treatment. Yet there were signs of crisis and opportunities to intervene in many cases. This brief highlights the need to raise public awareness of when and how to seek help. If you would like to help with this issue, please contact SCY Director Rebecca Levin.
The "Piecing It All Together Conference: How Children's Mental Health/Mental Illness Affects Home, School, & Community" is scheduled for March 21 at Dominican University in River Forest.
